Imagine 4000+ people gathering in a large ballroom ready to hear your opening keynote. They walk in to a simple logo loop animation across a 300′ wide high resolution curved projection wall. Then a violinist appears from the audience and starts playing a nice classical melody and makes her way on stage. One by one, three additional musicians take their place.
They play on as the room fills and the chatter begins to hush as the audience is captivated by the elegant live performance of the soft melody or quite possibly falling asleep to it. This was an early morning keynote but the coffee was flowing.
Then after about three minutes the tune concludes. The crowd cheers and claps in anticipation of our speaker taking stage. The house lights go dark. The 300′ wall goes black. There is complete silence for a brief moment.
Then, thunder claps LOUDLY. Colored spotlights appear and swivel and pan across the room. The house lights softly come back on and the elegant musicians tear off half their wardrobe. These musicians have attitude and this is not a proper or elegant event. It’s a celebration around The Power of LIVE.
Up comes a whole new immersive animation across the 300′ wall and right on their mark, the ladies hit the beginning notes from Nirvana’s “Smells Like Teen Spirit.” The narrative in the animation tells the story of what LIVE events mean to an audience and to a brand.
We were just getting started and letting our audience know our theme, The Power of LIVE, is about surprises, emotions, relationships and ultimately those memorable experiences that live with you forever.
This is what I conceptualized, designed and produced for the opening at Cvent CONNECT 2018.
